The collection contains papers of engineers and others associated with water resources development in Southern California and other areas in the western U.S. from about 1890 to 1960, mostly correspondence, court testimony, engineering drawings, field notebooks, graphs, maps, photographs, reports, speeches, and well-logs. Included are the papers of Louis J. Alexander, vice president and chief engineer, Southern California Water Company (1926-1967); Cyrus G. Baldwin, president of Pomona College, Claremont, Calif. and developer of hydroelectric power (1901-1913); J.H. Dockweiler, engineer (1900-1940); Frederick C. Finkle, engineer (1890-1940); William L. Honnold, board of directors, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (1930-1933); Willis S. Jones, engineer and founder, Pomona Valley Protective Association (1900-1940); Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (minutes and resolutions of the Board of Directors, "blue reports," and specification reports, 1926-1969); Reuel L. Olson (research for The Colorado River Compact. Thesis, Harvard University, 1926); J. Ralph Shoemaker, engineer and member, Pomona Valley Protective Association (1900-1966); A.L.
